Pedestrian killed in Offaly road accident

Pedestrian(50s) was killed in an accident involving a car and a pedestrian in Co Offaly overnight.

The incident on the R446 at Marshbrook, near the Westmeath border shortly after 2 am.

The male pedestrian passed away at the scene. The car's passengers are receiving medical assistance but were not seriously injured.

While a forensic investigation is conducted, local detours are in place, and the route remains blocked to traffic.

Gardai are pleading for witnesses and drivers with dashcam or other camera evidence to come forward.
