Deepa Dinamani’s husband has appeared in court charged with her murder

Following a special session of the Cork District Court, a 41-year-old man named Regin Parithapara Rajan was charged with killing his wife.

After a brutal assault on Friday, Deepa Dinamani, 38,'s body was found in her Wilton, Cork.

Later brought in for the special session this morning, Regin Parithapara Rajan is charged with killing her.

Detective Garda Alan Johnson told RTÉ that he had charged the suspect after arresting him at the Togher Garda Station earlier this morning.

There hasn't been a response to the accusation. Additionally, no bail application has been made because a murder charge prevents the district court from granting it.

Rajan has now been placed back in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Thursday, July 20.

The victim, a mother of a young kid, was not at home when the crime occurred. Following the terrifying occurrence, the young child is being looked after.

Just after 10 o'clock on Friday night, emergency personnel flocked to the residence. The woman had a stab wound, but paramedics were unable to rescue her, according to Garda.

At the scene, she was pronounced dead.

Following the tragedy, a Garda spokeswoman made a statement.

"Garda in Cork are looking into a deadly assault in connection with the finding of a woman's death at a home in Wilton, Cork, on the evening of Friday, July 14, 2023, at about 10.10 p.m.

The woman, who was in her late 30s, was found dead on the scene after the Garda and emergency services arrived at the house.

The woman's body is still present at the scene pending a technical inspection, which is scheduled for today, July 15.

"The State Pathologist has been informed, and an autopsy will be performed soon,"
