In connection with the "serious assault and robbery" of three visitors in Dublin's Temple Bar, Garda has detained a teenager.

After being attacked at Fownes Street Upper on Friday night, the three guys, who are all in their 20s, were carried with serious injuries to St. James' Hospital.

The three have all already left the hospital, according to the garda.

A male juvenile teenager has been detained in connection with the incident, according to a Garda statement from Sunday morning. He is currently being held in a garda station in the heart of Dublin.

The event in Temple Bar was called "deeply shocking and totally unacceptable" by Sinn Féin TD Louise O'Reilly.

She wished the three victims a swift recovery and added, "My thoughts are with the three people receiving hospital treatment for their injuries."

"Everyone deserves to feel safe in our capital city, whether they are Dubliners, residents of this city, tourists, or Garda."

According to Ms. O'Reilly, her party has put up ideas to reduce crime in Dublin.

"A sticking-plaster approach to policing our capital city will not cut it. We need real reform to keep communities safe," she declared.
